What’s changed?
Over the past few months, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, transforming the way we operate, deliver services, and communicate our values. This journey has been driven by our dedication to sustainability and the belief that businesses can thrive while actively caring for the planet.
We’re proud to announce long-term partnerships with two leading environmental organizations, Positive Planet and ClimatePartner ([links]). These partnerships are at the core of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, supporting global eco-projects, and leading by example in the IT services industry.
In addition to these partnerships, we’ve made significant updates to our operations to prioritize sustainability, including:
- Sustainable engineer transport: Shifting to low-emission or eco-friendly transportation methods to minimize our carbon footprint.
- Increased use of refurbished spare parts: Extending the life cycle of IT hardware to reduce e-waste and promote circularity.
- Enhanced service offerings: Tweaking functionalities to align with environmental goals without compromising on quality or efficiency.
Beyond operational changes, we’ve reimagined our digital presence to inspire and educate. Our social platforms and blogs now focus on:
- Environmental news and updates: Keeping you informed about the latest trends, breakthroughs, and global initiatives in sustainability.
- Eco-project highlights: Sharing the impact of our partnerships and projects, from ocean preservation to reforestation efforts.
- Practical tips and insights: Empowering businesses and individuals to adopt greener practices in IT and beyond.
These efforts represent just the beginning of our transformation. As we move forward, we’re dedicated to collaborating with our clients, partners, and the wider community to drive meaningful change.
Why change?
Staff updates:
We are excited to introduce two new additions to the ServiceGRN team, Amy Josie and Barry Cubitt, who are both bringing incredible expertise and enthusiasm to their respective roles.
Amy Josie, our new Head of Sustainability & Salesforce Administrator, joins us with a fresh perspective and a deep passion for sustainability. This is Amy’s first role in the field, and she’s eager to drive our environmental efforts forward. She will be taking charge of managing our carbon footprint and working closely with our environmental partners to ensure we are making a meaningful impact.
In addition, Amy will be optimizing our Salesforce system to better align with the evolving needs of our business, and she will be identifying innovative ways to integrate more sustainable practices throughout our operations. Her commitment to both sustainability and technological innovation will be key in helping us reach new heights.
Barry Cubitt, our Service Delivery Support Analyst, brings years of industry experience to the team. Barry’s role revolves around collecting valuable information from each service call, diagnosing issues, and ensuring the right solutions are implemented for every client.
Since joining, Barry has already made significant strides, improving the efficiency of our service delivery processes and helping to enhance the overall client experience. His technical expertise and attention to detail are making a real difference, and we are excited to see the continued positive impact of his work.
Positive Planet – Net zero by 2040.
The world is constantly changing, and to commit to such a change is only possible with support and uplift. That’s why we’ve decided to pen a long term relationship with emission reduction organisation, Positive Planet to help us adapt to the changing world with one hundred percent efficiency.
Positive Planet analysed our activity over 2023 and have produced a carbon emissions report along with a carbon reduction plan, in which we strive to follow targets for and become netzero by 2040 at the latest. The plan includes targets such as – Implementing a ‘green team’ to lead sustainable initiatives, 75% of all equipment provided to ServiceGRN employees is to be refurbished, and over 13 more long term targets have been agreed too.
We are really pleased with the work done by positive planet so far, and working with them for years to come will be a shared fulfilment.
Climate Partner – ServiceGRN are carbon positive.
Having long term reduction targets is amazing, however, we wanted to make an instant impact too. At ServiceGRN, we’re passionate about preserving the earths waters and oceans and we wanted to discover a way to offset our carbon emissions while taking action for this matter.
That’s how we came across ClimatePartner, a carbon offsetting company that allow you to invest into United Nations projects. We found an ocean plastics project, where we financed the collection of 150kgs of plastic and the reduction of 15 tonnes of CO2 worldwide. By doing this, we were able to intercept plastics before they intercepted the sea and protect sensitive marine ecosystems.
We have received our carbon offsetting certification from ClimatePartner which we will showcase with pride and we’re extremely grateful to the team who understood our passion and helped us achieve the target we were hoping for. If this is of interest to your business, you can visit climatepartner.com for more information and offsetting quotes.
Staff Training and Events
Changing the way our business operates also means ensuring our staff stay informed about the latest environmental movements and developments. To support this, our team will participate in an online training day hosted by Positive Planet, designed to enhance their knowledge and expertise in sustainability—one of our core values.
Beyond training, several members of our marketing and sustainability teams will be attending networking events, conference shows, and Chamber of Commerce meetings. These events provide an invaluable opportunity to connect with like-minded businesses, share insights, and explore innovative collaborations. Working closely with the Chamber of Commerce also helps us stay actively involved in local and regional sustainability initiatives, fostering partnerships that drive positive change and reinforce our role as a socially responsible business.
